Creative movement & preschool movement are developmental activities in which preschool children and toddlers can express themselves through movement, dancing and imagination. Preschool children and toddlers may dance around to fun children's music, they may use their imagination and pretend to be various things, moving around as they interpret how the particular object or creature would move.

Creative movement and preschool movement in a class setting with a group of children help develop social skills, emotional development as well as imagination and creativity. Creative movement is a great way to get preschoolers and kids up and moving with some great physical activities indoors or outdoors.

Preschool Creative Movement Activity - I've Been Working On The Railroad

You could put on the song 'I've Been Working On The Railroad' and have the preschool children in the classroom pretend that they are working on the railroad.

They can move and pretend they are working on the railroad along with the song. Some children may pretend to be trains and move around the preschool classroom expressing themeselves and moving to the music however they feel.

Props like train engineers hats could be used. Other props like streamers could be used which promote more movement. Preschool children may try to move like a train would move or make train noises.

*There are no right or wrong ways for the kids to participate in these creative movement activities - just allow them to express themselves with their own interpretations.
