Step One:
Cut the top half off of the egg carton then cut the bottom half of the egg carton in two so you have two long strips that when flipped over look like a long line of bumps. Make enough for the class. A good idea is to get each parent to bring in an egg carton for their child.
Step Two:
Have paint set out so the children can paint their caterpillars any colors they want first.
Step Three:
When the paint is dry, have out some googley eyes, sparkles, stickers, and glue for the children to decorate their caterpillars.
Step Four:
Have a variety of colored pipe cleaners out and help the children stick however many legs they want through the sides of the carton.
Voila---you have a cute little caterpillar friend.
