When dealing with preschool children we may have a desire to try and teach them all the details about a particular 'Theme' or 'topic', thinking that if they hear about it now, they will be that much further ahead later on in elementary school.
The truth is that when we are teaching preschoolers & young children, we don’t want to overwhelm them with unnecessary deep facts about topics or themes. This is because children and preschoolers won’t retain information that is just thrown at them amongst other details they are told they need to know.
When it comes to preschoolers, keep it simple. Teach preschoolers, kindergarteners and young children basics that are easy to understand and fun to learn. Children will learn the deeper facts of various preschool themes, or topics, when they get to elementary school and they will be further ahead in the sense that they know the basics, so the new information will be interesting, more age appropriate, and easier to retain. They can add this new information with the basics that you have taught them and they will really flourish.
