Preschool Science Activities - Elementary Science:

How Does it Feel, Feely Bags

Science Experiment For Kids - What you will need:

8 strong zip-able baggies
Sand
Flour
Cornstarch
Cornmeal
Water
Strong tape such as clear packaging tape

Science Experiment For Kids - What to do:

Pour about ¼ cup of each ingredient in its own bag. Do not mix them. Make sure all the air is out of the bag, zip it up, and tape the zipped part only to a table. Make sure all four bags are in a row.

Next do the same things as above but this time add a little water to each ingredient before taping them to the table. Add as much or as little water as you want, just make sure the bag will not burst as the children squish them around. It’s an experiment so there are no rules.

When you tape the bags with the water to the table, make sure you put them in the same order but underneath the dry bags.

Ask the children how each one feels with or without the water.

*Take pictures for a classroom picture book which can be posted in the library and you can also document the children’s responses on a piece of chart paper and post it for the children to see.
