We all have our favorite summer activities but I think a great one we all enjoy that will never grow outdated is, blowing bubbles!
Preschool children, toddlers, infants, you name it, all children love bubbles. Not only do they love blowing bubbles but they also love running around to catch them.
We thought we would search around and find the best bubble solutions, different variations to blowing bubbles and we sure found them, now we want to share it with all of you, parents, teachers, caregivers, and everyone else!
Buying bubble solution is great but children or preschoolers don’t get to actually explore what goes into making bubbles. Why not make it a fun kid’s science experiment that they can follow through with and explore.
*First here is the simple solution to making great bubbles for your kids & preschoolers.
½ cup Dawn or Joy dish washing
4 tablespoons glycerin (found at pharmacies)
4 ½ cups of water
Spoon
Container for bubble mixture
Slowly mix the detergent and the water together in your container so it does not foam up. Next add the glycerin and very slowly stir.
We have tested that it is best to let the mixture sit overnight or even for a few hours before use. The bubbles are bigger and last longer.
One suggestion is to make the mixture as a science experiment the day before and then have the bubbles out for the next day for outside time.
Using old bubble containers is the easiest way to store the bubbles. You can also use any type of plastic jar and just make sure that the bubble wands can fit in the jar and reach the bottom.
Using a shallow basin or baking dish is another way to use the bubble mixture when outside to all the children can use the mixture easily.
If you double or triple the mixture then you can use a large basin and try many different materials to blow bubbles.
Some materials are small berry baskets with all the little square holes around it, old CD’s ( thru the center hole), plastic zip ties, twisting twist ties into shapes, twisting pipe cleaners into loops, also you can buy actual large items made for blowing bubbles at your local department stores or dollar stores.
All you have to do is add some food coloring to your mixture and voila, you have colored bubbles.
Have you ever tried blowing colored bubbles in the winter time? Pick a bit of a milder day in the winter time but make sure there is snow on the ground. Make some colored bubble mixture and have a blast coloring the snow with your bubbles.
After all, who said bubbles are only for summer?
We hope you enjoy these preschool activities with your children.
