Transportation and Vehicles Pre K Theme

Use basic vehicles that are easy to remember, interesting, and familiar to the children.

-have books on transportation in the library

-have toy cars on the toy shelf and if possible a mini area carpet that has a city or neighborhood on it

-talk about the vehicles and what they do at circle time and read books on vehicles and transportation that are age appropriate to preschoolers

-have real life pictures of vehicles posted around the classroom

-have a field trip to a fire station or police station

-make a cardboard box car and have it in the dramatic play centre

-make a cardboard box fire truck and have that in the dramatic play centre the next week

-have a car wash- ask a member of the staff to lend their car so the children can wash it (they will get to see a car up-close and explore it)

Be creative, really pay attention to the children and who knows, you may get a new idea from observing them.
